Hanoi city: Abbot of Phuc Khanh pagoda appointed

On Sept. 26, a ceremony was held in Yen Vien commune, Hanoi’s Gia Lam district for official announcement of the abbot appointment decision for Phuc Khanh pagoda.

Attending the ceremony include Buddhist dignitaties from the central, Ha Noi city and Gia Lam district Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, and representatives from local authorities of Gia Lam district and Yen Vien commune.

As announced at the ceremony, Venerable Thích Thanh Hải has officially been appointed as Abbot of Phuc Khanh pagoda. The Venerable is concurrently Abbot of Xuan Trach pagoda in Hanoi’s Dong Anh district.

In addition to the appointment announcement ceremony, many Buddhist and cultural activities were held on two days of Sept. 26-27 to celebrate the event, including Buddhist recitation and prayers for peace and prosperity, and requiem for spiritual uplifting of the death, which drew a large number of Buddhists and local people.
