Dignitaries and parishioners of Hai Phong diocese have sent practical supports to people severely affected by Covid-19 epidemic in Ho Chi Minh City for the past days.
Responding to calls of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Vietnam and Archbishop Joseph Vũ Văn Thiên, Apostolic Administrator of Hai Phong diocese, Caritas Hai Phong has successfully raised 900 million VND from its parishes, religious orders and sponsors.
This raised fund has been sent to people in Ho Chi Minh City in two phases, the latter was just on August 9.
Earlier, Hai Phong Bishop Office has donated 300 million VND to epidemic-hit people in Ho Chi Minh City.
In addition, many parishes and congregations in the diocese have directly sent donations of cash and necessities to Southern compatriots through religious orders or Catholic groups and individuals, including 230 million VND in cash donated by Hai Duong parish and 160 million VND contributed by Hai Phong Catholic Business Association.
