The ground-breaking ceremony for construction of Mang Den Catholic church located in Kon Tum province’s Kon Plong district was held on October 21.
The ceremony was presided over by Bishop of Kon Tum diocese Aloisio Nguyễn Hùng Vị and attended by Great Holy Cross Knight Lê Đức Thịnh, nearly 100 priests and about 10,000 Catholic clergymen, clergywomen and followers from localities.
Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyễn Văn Hùng and local authorities’ representatives also attended the event.
Speaking the ceremony, while extending congratulatory greetings to the diocese, Secretary Nguyễn Văn Hùng praised local Catholics for their activite participation in social programs and campaigns launched by the local authorities.
As reported at the event, Mang Den pilgrimage center located in the province’s Kon Plong district has been granted 16,657 m2 of land by the provincial government for building four facilities in the first phase, including the Mang Den Church of Our Lady of Sorrows and statue of Our Blessed Mother. Earlier, the provincial authorities of Kon Tum has approved a total of 38,000 m2 of land for the Catholic pilgrimage center.
