GCRA leader pays working visit to Thua Thien – Hue

Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Chiến Thắng paid a working visit to the central province of Thua Thien Hue on October 11.

During the visit, the GCRA leader had separate meetings with Standing Vice Chairman of Thua Thien Hue provincial People’s Committee Phan Ngọc Thọ, Most Venerable Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Chapter in the province Thích Đức Thanh and Priest General Vicar of Hue Archdiocese Antonio Dương Quỳnh.

Speaking at the meeting with Buddhist and Catholic dignitaries, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng affirmed consistent policies of state authorities for ensuring people’s freedom of practices of religion, including Buddhism and Catholicism, in accordance with the law. He also called on dignitaries of religious organizations to continue encouraging religious followers to promote fine traditions and join with local authorities in movements for strengthening national unity and boosting socio-economic development in the locality. 

Welcoming the GCRA leader’s visit, Most Venerable Thích Đức Thanh and Priest Antonio Dương Quỳnh took the chance to share with the guests religious practices of Buddhists and Catholics in Thua Thien – Hue province.

At the meeting with Thua Thien Hue provincial People’s Committee, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng and Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Phan Ngọc Thọ exchanged on the state administration on religion in the locality.
