GCRA leader appointed as Deputy Minister of Public Security

On December 12, the Ministry of Public Security held a ceremony to announce the Decision of the Prime Minister on appointing two new Deputy Ministers of Public Security.

The two new Deputy Ministers include Member of the Party Central Committee, former Deputy Chief of Party Central Committee’s Office Nguyễn Văn Thành, and former Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ministry cum Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Phạm Dũng.      

Speaking at the event, General Minister of Public Security Trần Đại Quang stated that Deputy Ministers Trần Văn Thành and Phạm Dũng are leading officials, commanders in the police force for many years. The appointment also reflects recognition of important contributions made by the two new Deputy Ministers by the State and Vietnamese people, he said.

Lieutenant General Phạm Dũng is People's Armed Force Hero, Associate Professor, Ph.D of Law, General Director of the General Security Department since 2007, and General Director of the General Security Department II from 2010. He was appointed by the Prime Minister as Deputy Minister of Home Affairs cum Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs in 2012. Lieutenant Phạm Dũng is an experienced expert in internal security, external security and issues on religions and ethnicity.
