Forum on wildlife conservation for human & nature

The Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in collaboration with the Ministry of Nature Resources and Environment held on July 18 a forum on wildlife conservation for human and nature.

This was part of a coordination program of the two sides in communication on wildlife protection and biodiversity.

Attending the event included Senior Venerable Thích Minh Quang, Deputy Chief of the central VBS’s Northern Office cum Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Committee in Ninh Binh province; Deputy Director of the Communication Centre on Nature Resources and Environment under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Vũ Minh Lý; Buddhists and students from several universities in Hanoi city.

According to Deputy Director Vũ Minh Lý, religious organizations have proactively joined communication campaigns and programs launched by state agencies and NGOs on conservation. The participation of the VBS in communicating on wildlife conservation and biodiversity significantly improved this work.

During the event, Senior Venerable Thích Minh Quang informed several contents on wildlife conservation from Buddhist perspectives, the proper release of animals and the necessity of joining hands of the whole society in environment and wildlife protection.

As reported, implementing the coordination program between the VBS and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the VBS has issued Dispatch No. 151/HDTS-VP1 on the communication coordination on wildlife protection and biodiversity preservation.

Accordingly, the VBS’s Central Executive Council asked the VBS’s functioning committees, Buddhist education facilities, the VBS’s executive committee in provinces and cities, monasteries, monks and nuns across the country to organize communication activities calling for not killing and harming wildlife and proactively joining in the process of biodiversity, environmental protection and climate change adaption.
