Forum on Quynh Vien Pagoda in flow of Vietnamese Buddhist history and culture

The People’s Committee in Ha Tinh province’s Thach Ha district in collaboration with the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Board in the district held on July 10 a forum on Quynh Vien pagoda in the flow of Vietnamese Buddhist history and culture.

At the forum

The event taking place at Quynh Vien pagoda located in Dinh Ban commune of Thanh Ha district saw the participation of Venerable Thích Chiếu Tuệ, Vice Chairman of the provincial VBS’s executive committee, Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn, Head of the VBS’s executive board in the district and nearly 1,000 Buddhists and local residents.

Local guests at the event included Director of the Information and Communication Department of Ha Tinh province Đậu Tùng Lâm, Deputy Director of the Provincial Radio and Television Station Đặng Thị Phương Hoa, Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Phan Quốc Khánh, and Deputy Secretary of the district Party’s Committee Nguyễn Văn Thắng.

The gathering focused on the influence of Buddhism in the daily life of Ha Tinh people in the contemporary period, especially in the past two decades, and the position and impacts of Quynh Vien pagoda in historical, spiritual and archeological aspects.

Comments at the forum proposed an early restoration of Quynh Vien pagoda for better preserving its historical values, the construction of a road from Quynh Vien pagoda to Le Kho temple, and an investment project covering Quynh Vien pagoda and historical relics in the surrounding region.
