Five more COVID-19 cases confirmed, patient tally increases to 1,059

The National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control on September 9 confirmed five more imported COVID-19 cases, raising the nation’s patient tally to 1,059.  

Five new COVID-19 imported cases are sent for medical quarantine upon their arrival.

All of them are passengers onboard the flight VN28 returning from Ukraine on September 1 and were immediately quarantined in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province upon their arrival.

Patient 1,055 is a 60-year old man, residing in Nam Sach District, Hai Duong Province.

Patient 1,056 is a 11–year old boy in Hai Ba Trung District, Ha Noi.

Patient 1,057 is a 30-year old man in Thuan Thanh District, Bac Ninh Province.

Patient 1,058 is a four-year old girl in Son Tay Town, Ha Noi.

Patient 1,059 is a 37-year old woman in Binh Giang, Hai Duong Province.

They had their samples tested by Ho Chi Minh City-based Pasteur Institute on September 9 and the outcomes showed that they were positive for the SARS-CoV-2.

They have been isolated and treated at Long Dien Medical Facility in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province. 

According to the Committee, as many as 21 COVID-19 patients were declared clear of the virus on September 9, including 10 at Hoa Vang District Medical Facility, four at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ha Noi's Dong Anh District, four at the Quang Nam Central General Hospital, two at Bac Lieu General Hospital and one at Da Lak Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases Hospital.

At present, 890 among 1059 COVID-19 patients have been recovered and exited hospitals, accounting for 84%. 35 others have been reported dead.

The nation is placing 37,474 people under quarantine and medical surveillance, including 834 at hospitals, 13,365 at centralized quarantine camps and 23,274 at places of residence./.
