The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Committee in Nam Dinh province held on January 19 a solemn ceremony to receive the First-class Labor Medal recently awarded by the State President.
The ceremony taken place in the provincial Buddhist center was attended by Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Phùng Khoan, Chairman of provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front committee Đặng Xuân Hùng, members of the executive committee of the VBS’s chapter in the province and representatives from provincial authorities.
During the ceremony, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Phùng Khoan presented the VBS’s chapter in the province with the medal of the State President honoring its contributions to the socio-economic development and active participation in patriotic emulation movements launched by provincial authorities over the past years.
On the occasion, the Buddhist chapter presented 94 ordained documents of Supreme Patriarch of the VBS to local Buddhist monks and nuns, and held the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a stupa worshipping the late leaders of the provincial Buddhist Church over the past decades.
