Festivals held to commemorate death anniversary of General Trần Quốc Tuấn

Tran Temple festival in Nam Dinh province was kicked off on September 18 at the Tran Temple – Thap pagoda historical relic.

The festival marked the 719th death anniversary of General Trần Quốc Tuấn as well as paid tribute to Kings of Tran dynasty in general and General Trần Quốc Tuấn in particularly.

The festival this year featured traditional worshipping rituals and folk games such as cheo singing, dragon dance, boat racing, traditional martial arts performances, chess competition, etc.

General Trần Quốc Tuấn (1220-1300) led the Dai Viet (Great Vietnam) army to victories over three major Mongolian invasions, making him one of the the greatest military feats in Vietnamese history.

Performing incense offering An Sinh temple festival

On the same day, An Sinh temple in Dong Trieu town, Quang Ninh province officially opened its festival.

The temple was built in the 14th century and has been recognized as a special national historical relic. The temple worships the eight kings of the Tran Dynasty and General Trần Quốc Tuấn.

The festival included traditional rituals and cultural activities with folk games.
