A ceremony to officially announce the establishment of functioning bodies under the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Committee in Ba Ria Vung Tau province was held on October 24 at Van Phat Quang Dai Tong Lam pagoda located in the province’s Tan Thanh district.
The event saw the participation of Most Venerable Chairman of the VBS’s Chapter’s Executive Commitee in the province Thích Quang Hiển, representatives from local authorities and about 300 monks and nuns in the province.
During the event, Most Venerable Vice Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Committee Thích Nhuận Nghĩa announced the establishment of 12 function boards for Buddhist clergy, education, guidance, propagation, rites, cultural, economic and finance, social charity, international relation, legislation, inspection, information and communication.
Besides, two sub-boards for nun affairs under the board for clergy affairs and for Buddhist families under the board for Buddhist guidance were also formally set up.
Right after the establishment ceremony, functioning boards met and approved the working plans for the 2017-2022 tenure.
