The Vietnam Buddhist Institute in Ho Chi Minh city in collaboration with the Buddhist High School in Tien Giang province held on November 22 an examination for the 3rd transition course (2020-2022).
Present at the event taking place in Vinh Trang pagoda located in My Phong commune of the province’s My Tho city included Senior Venerable Thích Quang Thạnh, Deputy Director cum General Secretary of the Vietnam Buddhist Institute in Ho Chi Minh city; Venerable Deputy Chief of the Buddhist Institute Thích Lệ Ngôn; Senior Venerable Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Committee in Tien Giang Thích Quảng Lộc; Venerable Thích Nhuận Đức and Venerable Thích Huệ Phát, Deputy Heads of the Buddhist High School in Tien Giang, and 33 candidate monks and nuns.
The examination started with a test on a basic understanding of Buddhism in the morning, and two tests on Buddhist literature and foreign language (English or Chinese) in the afternoon.
Passed candidates will studying general knowledge of Buddhism for two years at the provincial Buddhist high school and the in-depth Buddhist knowledge for two years at the Buddhist institute in Ho Chi Minh city, and they will receive certificates of graduation from the Buddhist institute when complete the course.
