2000 pastors, commissioned pastors and evangelists from 34 provinces and cities of Vietnam South have attended the general conference of the 8th Council of Clergy under the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (ECVN) (South).
The event was held by the ECVN on November 9-11 at Da Lat Protestant Church in Lam Dong province.
Distinguished guests at the congress’s opening ceremony included Executive Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Bùi Thanh Hà, Pastor President the U.S. Christian and Missionary John Stumbo, and Pastor President of the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (North) Nguyễn Hữu Mạc.

During the congress, participating delegates elected 5 members to the leadership board for the 8th tenure (2016-2018) with pastor Mã Phúc Hiệp as head of the board.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the event, GCRA’s Vice Chairman Bùi Thanh Hà praised the clergy council for its role and social and religious achievements over the past term. The GCRA leader also expressed hope that the ECVN’s Clergy Council would better guide Protestant followers to practice the religion according to the Church’s motto “Live the Gospel, Serve God, Fatherland and People”, and proactively engage in movements contributing to the cause of developing and innovating the country./.
