Every year, the Ma Coong people residing in Thuong Trach commune, Quang Binh province’s Bo Trach district holds their traditional drum beating festival on the 16th of the first lunar month.
This year festival was held on February 12th in Ca Roong village and attracted large numbers of neighborhood residents and tourists throughout the country.
The most unique part of the festival is when the village’ chief speaks to start the drum beating. Promptly, the villagers and also visitors rush close to the drum and everyone uses drumstick to hit repeatedly the drum in the cheers of those around.
With its longstanding and significance in the cultural and spiritual life of the Ma Coong people, the drum beating festival is annually held to pray for good weather, productive crops and peaceful life in the new year.
