The provincial Executive Board of Dong Nai’s Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) held a closing summer retreat ceremony of Mahayana Buddhism and Mendicant Buddhism
On August 6th, 2014, the provincial Executive Board of Dong Nai’s VBS held a closing summer retreat ceremony of Mahayana Buddhism and Mendicant Buddhism to review results of 03 months of concentrated-study by monks and nuns during the summer retreat 2014 in the province.
Attending the ceremony were Most Venerable Thích Minh Chánh, Member of Discernment Council of VBS, Chairman of the provincial Executive Committee of Dong Nai’s VBS; Buddhist dignitaries and more than 300 monks and nuns at summer retreat courses. Representatives from the provincial Party Committee’s Board for Mass Mobilization, the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs, the Provincial Public Security, Home Affairs Department and the People’s Committee of Hiep Hoa commune also participated in the ceremony to celebrate the success of the summer retreat this year.
On this occasion, the provincial Executive Board of Dong Nai’s VBS organized a training course on Buddhist administration to implementing the VBS’s Chapter (5th amendment), the regulation of the VBS Committee of Clergy Affairs, rules of local Executive Board; policies and laws of the State on religion, especially Decree 92/2012 / NĐ-CP of the Government.
In addition, in this summer retreat course, the provincial Executive Board and the Executive Boards of the Long Khanh town and Bien Hoa city held a prayer ceremony for peace in the East Sea; actively encouraged monasteries, monks, nuns and Buddhists to carry out charity activities, with a contributing amount of 7,460,667,000VNĐ.
At the closing ceremony, the Executive Board praised monks and nuns for their achievements in understanding and enforcement of Buddhist canon laws during the summer retreat course./.
