Dong Nai province: Local VBS commemorates 707th death anniversary of King-Monk Trần Nhân Tông

On December 11, Dong Nai provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Committee held a ceremony to commemorate the 707th anniversary of the pass away of King-Monk Trần Nhân Tông at Tinh Hoi pagoda in the province’s Hiep Hoa commune.
Attending the ceremony included Most Venerable Chairman of the provincial VBS Executive Committee Thích Minh Chánh, members of the committee’s Standing Board, monks and nuns from Buddhist training schools, and local authorities’ representatives.
During the ceremony, Most Venerable Thích Giác Quang, Vice Chairman of the provincial VBS Executive Committee reviewed great merits and contributions of the King and Buddhist Master Trần Nhân Tông, founder of Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen Buddhism and a national great hero who led the nation to victories in two wars against the Mongol invaders.

During the ceremony, dignitaries of the provincial VBS Executive Committee Executive Committee and local government’s representatives offered incense to the King-Monk after Buddhist traditional commemorating rituals.
