The Danang Municipal People’s Committee informed on October 23 that it has asked to the ministry of culture, sports and tourism to submit a proposal to the Prime Minister for recognizing Dong Duong 22.24 altar as a national treasure.
Dong Duong 22.24 altar discovered in Dong Duong Buddhist Complex in 1902 has 197cm high, 396cm long and 354cm in width. It was composed of sandstone dating between the end of the ninth century and the early tenth century.
The artifact then became the most important evident for the existence of the biggest Champa Buddhist centre in Southeast Asia. It bears a unique symbol of an ancient dynasty.
