The congress of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in Chau Thanh district of Tien Giang province for 2021-2026 tenure was successfully convened on November 22 in Nhon Phuoc pagoda located in Tam Hiep commune.
The event saw the presence of Most Venerable Thích Huệ Minh, Member of the VBS’s Central Executive Council cum Chairman of the VBS Executive Committee in Tien Giang; Senior Venerable Thích Quảng Lộc, Vice Chairman of the provincial VBS Executive Committee; Senior Venerable Thích Trung Chánh, Head of the VBS Executive Board in Chau Thanh district; and monks, nuns and lay Buddhists representing Buddhist followers in the district.
Guests at the congress included Chairwoman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs of Tien Giang Bùi Thị Mai, and representatives of local authorities of Chau Thanh district.

As reviewed at the one-day congress, in the last five years, Buddhist sangha in Chau Thanh district have launched social and charitable activities for presenting supports to the disadvantaged people, building charity houses for the poor, presenting scholarships to students, donating masks and antiseptics for preventing Covid-19 spread, etc, with the total contributing value of 44.8 billion VND.
The event elected the 19-member executive board of the VBS in Chau Thanh district for the term 2021-2026 with Senior Venerable Thích Trung Chánh reselected as head of the VBS executive board.
The 3rd congress of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in Ha Tinh provincial city was successfully convened in November 23 in Cam Son pagoda located in Dai Nai ward of the city.
As planned by the VBS’s chapter in Ha Tinh province, the VBS congress in the provincial city was the last district-level congress in 13 districts and provincial cities of the province.
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, the event was scaled down with a strict implementation of preventive measures against the pandemic spread, including the 5K message recommended by the Ministry of Health.

The congress reviews Buddhist affairs of the VBS in Ha Tinh provincial city in 2016-2021 tenure, including its social charities, efforts and supports to the Covid-19 prevention work, and mapped out key affairs for the next term (2021-2026).
The one-day event also elected the nine-member executive board of the VBS in the provincial city in the 2021-2026 tenure with Venerable Thích Quảng Nguyên chosen as head of the Buddhist executive board./.
