Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam stresses need to preserve fine traditions of festivals

Deputy Prime Minister Vũ Đức Đam has asked authorities of Nam Dinh province and Hanoi city for radical reforms combining propaganda to meliorate the perception of local people to better organize festivals of Tran Temple and Huong pagoda.

“We should return the inherent meaning of the festival as well as arouse the good cultural traditions of the nation and repel the negative actions” he said when visiting Tran temple and Huong pagoda on Friday.

Visiting Tran temple, Deputy Prime Minister Vũ Đúc Đam highly appreciated the renovation in managing and organizing the open grace festival in Tran temple festival since 2012 with better assurance of security for the festival.

Nam Dinh provincial authorities should make further efforts to overcome the limitations of the management and organization of festivals, promote propaganda about fine cultural features of the festival, step by step repel the commercial phenomenon in cultural and spiritual festivals, said the Deputy PM.

Deputy PM Vũ Đức Đam visits Huong pagoda

During the inspection trip to Huong pagoda, Deputy PM Vũ Đức Đam recommended Hanoi city authorities, Huong Pagoda Management Board in close cooperation with the Abbot of Huong Pagoda, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha to provide solutions to improve services at the festival including ensuring aesthetics, clean environment for the special national historical relic.
