Deputy Prime Minister of Trương Hòa Bình led a delegation on April 28 to visit and present gifts to disadvantaged Cham households in Ho Chi Minh City on occasion of the 43rd anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.
The Deputy PM Trương Hòa Bình presented 110 gift sets, each worth 1,500,000 VND, to local Cham residents.
Chairman of the Representative Committee of the Muslim community in the city Lý Du Sô took the chance to thank the Deputy Prime Minister and the municipal authorities for their supports extended to Cham people over the past years. He stated that Cham people would continue proactively join social movements, contributing to socio-economic development in the city.
According to Chairman of the city Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Tô Thị Bích Châu, Ho Chi Minh City has currently 7,000 Cham people with 110 households classified as disadvantaged families.
