Deputy PM pays Christmas visit to Catholic and Protestant communities in Ho Chi Minh City

Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh extended his Christmas greetings to Catholic and Protestant dignitaries and followers in Ho Chi Minh City on December 20.

During his visits to Catholic and Protestant communities on Tuesday, the Deputy PM had separate meetings with Archbishop of HCM City Archdiocese Bùi Văn Đọc, Cardinal Phạm Minh Mẫn – former Archbishop, and Pastor President of the Vietnam Evangelical Church (South) Phan Vĩnh Cự.

In speaking to Catholic and Protestant dignitaries, Deputy Prime Minister Trương Hòa Bình has reiterated Vietnam’s consistent policy of respecting and securing freedom of religion and belief. He also praised the Catholic and Protestant communities’ contributions to national development.

On the occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister also visited My Tho Diocese and Lao Cong parish in Tien Giang province. Joining the Deputy Prime Minister’s visits to Catholic and Protestant communities included representatives of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs and the Fatherland Front Committee.
