Deputy Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc paid a Christmas visit to Hanoi Archdiocese and met with Archbishop Nguyễn Văn Nhơn on December 20 on occasion of Christmas 2014.

At the visiting reception, Deputy PM Nguyễn Xuân Phúc extended best wishes and merry Christmas to Archbishop Peter Nguyễn Văn Nhơn, dignitaries and followers in the archdiocese. He also spoke highly of contributions made by the Catholic community to the development of the country.
Deputy PM Nguyễn Xuân Phúc stated that the Vietnamese Party and State always guarantee people’s right to freedom of belief and religion. He expressed his hope that the Archbishop would encourage followers to make further practical contributions for the construction and development of Hanoi in particular and the whole country in general.
Archbishop Peter Nguyễn Văn Nhơn took this opportunity to thank the Party and State for their due attention extended to Catholic dignitaries and followers in the archdiocese. He affirmed that Catholic dignitaries and followers would promote the fine tradition of Catholics and actively participate in the construction and defense of the country.
