Deputy Prime Minister Trương Hòa Bình paid on September 5 a visit to Priest Joseph Trần Xuân Mạnh, Chairman of the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics at Phuc Lang parish in Thanh Hoa province’s Quang Xuong district, on the occasion of a working trip in Thanh Hoa province.
Joining the visit included Deputy Minister of the Home Affairs Ministry Nguyễn Trọng Thừa, Vice Chairman of the Government for Religious Affairs Bùi Thanh Hà, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee cum Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Trịnh Văn Chiến, and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Đình Xứng.
During the visit, Deputy Prime Minister Trương Hòa Bình spoke highly of practical contributions made by religions, including Catholicism, to the socio-economic development in the country.

The Deputy Prime Minister also praised contributions made by Priest Joseph Trần Xuân Mạnh to the Catholic solidarity committee, and his efforts in encouraging Catholic dignitaries and followers to implement the mottos “Living with the Gospel within the heart of the nation for serving the countrymen” and “A good Catholic is a good citizen”.
