Politburo member and permanent Deputy Prime Minister Trương Hòa Binh visited several religious organisations in the Central Highlands provinces of Kon Tum and Gia Lai on December 23 ahead of the Christmas Eve.
Accompanying the Deputy PM’s visit was Chairman of the Government committee for Religious Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng and representative leaders of the provincial authorities.
He visited and presented gifts to Kon Tum Diocese, the ethnic Sisters of the Miraculous Medal congregation, the Vietnam Christian Mission Church and the Protestant family of A Hot in Plei Chum Dak Choah hamlet, Ngo May ward, Kon Tum city. In Gia Lai, the government leader visited Thang Thien Parish and Plei Mo Nu Protestant Church under the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (South).
During the visit, the government leader wished Catholic and Protestant clerics and followers a warm and merry Christmas, and hoped that the Christian dignitaries and followers will contribute more to national development.
He asked the provincial authorities to continue creating favourable conditions for religious activities.
The Deputy PM wished that together with the local authorities and Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Christian dignitaries would provide care for the poor and ethnic minorities, especially those living in need, as well as encourage and guide followers to proactively engage in social movements and programs launched by local authorities for social, cultural and economic development in localities of the Central Highlands.
