The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Central Committee for Buddhist Propagation for the 9th tenure formally made its debut at a ceremony on February 25 in Thua Thien Hue province.
The event taking place at Tu Dam Pagoda located in Hue city saw the presence of Most Venerable Thích Giác Quang, Deputy Patriarch of the VBS, Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn, President of the VBS Central Executive Council, members of the VBS’s Discernment Council and Executive Council, and about 300 Buddhist monks and nuns across the country.
Distinguished guests at the event included Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng, Vice Chairwoman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Trần Thị Minh Nga and Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee in the province Nguyễn Thanh Bình.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Home Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng highly appreciated practical contributions made by the VBS’s Committee for Buddhist propagation over the past years. He expressed that in the next term, the Committee for Buddhist propagation would continue guiding Buddhist monks, nuns and lay followers to practice the religion in accordance with the law and proactively respond to patriotic emulation movements and social programs.

During the event, the VBS Central Committee has announced the appointment of 98 members of the 9th VBS Committee for Buddhist propagation for the 2022-2027 tenure, headed by Most Venerable Vice President of the VBS Executive Council Thích Bảo Nghiêm, and its 10 sub-committees.
