Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng meets with key religious of Cham people in Ninh Thuan

Deputy Minister of the Home Affairs Ministry Vũ Chiến Thắng hosted on February 26 a reception for a visiting delegation of key religious of Cham people in Ninh Thuan province led by Rev. President of the Cham Bani community’s Dignitary Council Châu Minh Hương.

Joining the reception included Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Nguyễn Ánh Chức and Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee in Ninh Thuan province Nguyễn Long Biên.
According to Deputy Director Trương Thanh Long of the Home Affairs Department in Ninh Thuan, religious followers in Ninh Thuan province currently account for about 43 percent of the province’s population, with over 85,000 followers of Cham Brahmanism and Islam.

Speaking at the reception, Rev. Châu Minh Hương took the chance to thank to the home affairs ministry and the GCRA for welcoming the Cham religious delegation in Hanoi. He stated that the Cham communities in the province would continue promoting the solidarity, accompanying with the nation and proactively engaging in patriotic movements launched by local authorities.

Chairman of the Islamic Community’s Representative Committee Ysa Thành Thanh Tâm shared with the host outstanding contributions made by Cham community in the province, and proposed on further meetings between authorities and Cham community, in order for religious dignitaries and followers to understand new policies and laws on belief & religion.

Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee in Ninh Thuan province Nguyễn Long Biên affirmed that the province would continue preserving and strengthening fine traditions of Cham people, as well as expressed hope that Cham people would continue joining hands with provincial authorities for boosting socio-economic development in the locality.

Speaking with the guests, Deputy Minister Vũ Chiến Thắng spoke highly of practical contributions made by Cham people for socio-economic development in the province over the past year. He expressed hope that Cham people would further uphold fine traditions of tangible and intangible festivals in the Cham community and strictly observing state policies & laws on belief & religion, including the Decree 95 dated December 29, 2023 detailing articles and measures to implement the law on belief & religion 2016. The home affairs official also asked the provincial authorities in Ninh Thuan to strengthen exchanges and meetings with religious organizations, create favourable conditions for legitimate religious practices of religious followers in Ninh Thuan in general, and of Cham religious people in particular.
