The 3rd culture and sports festival of Dao ethnic group opened on June 27-28 in Ha Lau commune, Quang Ninh province’s Tien Yen with many cultural performances and sporting activities.
The festival featured many worshipping activities for displaying traditional rites of Dao people including Phun Vong (child naming) and wedding ceremonies.
In addition, many traditional games such as stilt walking, tug of war, crossbow shooting and stick pushing, etc and cake wrapping and traditional costume embroidery competitions took place with the participation of 9 teams from communes of Ha Lau, Yen Than, Tien Lang, Dong Ngu, Hai Lang, Phong Du in Tien Yen district and several localities of Lang Son province.

The festival is a unique community event, not only honoring for fine traditional values, but also creating a venue for locals to meet and exchange, contributing to preserve and promote Dao ethnic group’s cultural heritages.
