Da Nang municipal People’s Committee issued on January 18 a dispatch for strengthening the inspection and handling of begging problems during Lunar New Year (Tet) 2021 at worshiping establishments and places of sightseeing.

According to the dispatch, the local public security in Da Nang will strengthen patrol and coordinate with the Information Processing Team on beggars (Team 550) to promptly detect and resolutely handle those who are responsible for leading and abusing of children, the elderly and the disabled in street vendoring and begging in public spots.

In addition, local authorities are asked to take due care of the disadvantaged people during Tet, as well as guide religious organizations and sponsors to donate and bring supports to disadvantaged people in localities to their homes or through the communes’ offices, and lest disadvantaged locals to wander begging for foods or money.
