A stone-laying ceremony for the construction of Amitabha Buddha statue solemnly held in Ba Da pagoda, Ngu Hanh Son district on Jan 5 on occasion of Amitabha Buddha’s birthday anniversary.
Attending the ceremony were Most Venerable Thích Như Thọ, Member of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Discernment Council; Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nguyện, Standing Member of the VBS Executive Councils cum Head of the city VBS Executive Committee and about 4,000 Buddhist dignitaries and followers.
Local guests at the ceremony included Deputy Secretary of Da Nang city Party Committee Võ Công Trí; Member of the Standing Committee of Party Committee cum Vice Chairman of Da Nang city People’s Council Huỳnh Nghĩa and representatives from local authorities of Ngu Hoanh Son district and My An commune.
According to its initial design, the Amitabha Buddha statue would be 21m high placed on a two-storey platform. The statue were designed by Architect Huỳnh Văn Phương of An Thy Architectural & Construction JSC. The construction is expected to be completed within 12 months with an estimated construction cost of 5 billion VND.
