Minister - Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tiến Dũng chaired the monthly press meeting on April 2.
During the meeting, in response to questions about Ba Vang pagoda’s recent practices of summoning spirits and receiving payments for sins in past lives, Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism Trịnh Thị Thuỷ affirmed that the activities taking advantages of faith and people’s legitimate desires were wrongdoings and would be corrected.
The ministry of culture, sport and tourism has sent official notes to the ministry of home affairs and the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) requesting the correction of activities abusing faith practices as well as cultural festivals for collecting money, she highlighted.
In the coming time, the ministry of culture, sport and tourism would continue collaborating with the home affairs ministry, local government and the Vietnam Buddhist church for enhancing people’s awareness of fine values of worshipping traditions at worshipping establishments and relics.
Reporteddly the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s chapter in Quang Ninh held a meeting on March 29 for the implementing the Central VBS’s instruction regarding issues concerning Ba Vang pagoda.
