A groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a Truc Lam Zen Monastery in Dong Thap province’s Thap Muoi district was solemnly held on January 21.
The event taking place in Go Thap national relic site in Thap Muoi district saw the participation of Most Venerable Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s (VBS) Executive Council Thích Giác Toàn, Most Venerable Chairman of the provincial VBS’s Executive Committee Thích Chơn Minh and Senior Venerable Deputy Head of Management Board of Truc Lam Zen Sect Thích Thông Hạnh, and large numbers of Buddhist dignitaries and followers in the localities.
Distinguished guests at the event included Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Bùi Thanh Hà and Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party’s Committee Nguyễn Tôn Hoàng.
As reported at the meeting, Thap Muoi Truc Lam Zen monastery and its tower will be built with a traditional design model of Yen Tu Truc Lam Zen sect. The construction includes 24 worshipping and supporting facilities including the 21-storey Dinh Quoc tower with 99 m in height and is expected to be completed in 2020.
