The construction of Gieng Tien (Divine Well) worshipping cultural site in Soc Trang province’s Chau Thanh district considered as the first Khmer cultural village to be built in the province was kicked off at a ceremony held on February 20.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Soc Trang provincial People’s Committee informed that the Gieng Tien spiritual-cultural site will boost spiritual tourist activities at worshipping places in the province including pagodas of Doi, Chen Kieu, Khleang and Clay, etc.
As reported at the event, the construction project will be built on an area of 9.9ha with many facilities such as the restoration of Gieng Tien, traditional houses, artifacts museum, as well as reactivation of intangible heritages including festivals, food, culture and music of Khme people.
The project aimed to preserve the Khmer ethnic culture and introduce Khmer culture to Soc Trang people in particular and the country in general.
