Construction of first Protestant church for Dao ethnic group in Dak Lak kicks off

Ea So Protestant chapter under the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (ECVN) (South) in Dak Lak province’s Ea Kar district solemnly held the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of its church on March 8.

Attending the event were Pastor Vice President of the ECVN (South) Nguyễn Hữu Bình, representatives from local authorities and about 500 followers from localities.

The Ea So chapter of Dao ethnic group was established in 1997 by Protestant followers who were migrants from the provinces of Cao Bang and Lang Son to Ea Kar district with five households (28 people). Up to now, the chapter has 70 Protestant families with more than 240 people. The new church will be built on area of 226 m2 with the worshipping chapel and functioning facilities at an estimated cost over VND 3.4 billion.
