The Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics (CSVC) in Nam Dinh province held on December 16 the 7th Conference on Catholic contributions to national construction and defense.
Attending the conference included Priest Acting Chairman of the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics Joseph Trần Xuân Mạnh and over 241 representatives of Catholic parishes and congregations in the locality.
Local guests at the event included Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Trần Lê Hoài and Chairman of provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Đặng Xuân Hùng.
The conference reviewed results of social movements in Catholic communities in Nam Dinh province, and the performance of the provincial CSVC in the 2012-2017 period.
As reported at the event, local Catholic dignitaries and followers have voluntarily made exchanges and donation of 2,361 hectares of land and contributed over VND 200 billions for building local transport system and public works for the past five years.
The one-day event nominated 60 members to the provincial Catholic solidarity committee for the seventh tenure (2017-2022) with Priest Joseph Hoàng Văn Tuấn elected as the chairman of the provincial committee.
