A programme entitled Colour of Spring across the Motherland’s Regions opened in Hanoi on February 12, featuring the culture of 25 ethnic minority groups from 17 provinces and cities throughout the country.
At the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism, members of ethnic groups put on unique performances and introduced traditional food, folk games and interesting cultural practices.
Notable cultural rituals included the Aza Koonh festival of the Ta Oi people in Thua Thien-Hue province and the jumping festival of the Dao people in Hanoi.
After the opening ceremony, the participants extended their New Year greetings, planted trees and formed a large circle representing the unity of ethnic groups.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism stated that the programme is held annually to honour the unique culture of various ethnic groups in Vietnam while also promoting the great national unity bloc.
The typical features and traditional atmosphere of the Lunar New Year will also be introduced to visitors at the two-day festival, helping to increase the appeal of the village.
