Chu Xa Village Festival in Hanoi kicks off

The People’s Committee in Gia Lam district of Hanoi city official opened Chu Xa Village Festival and received the certificate classifying the festival as a national intangible cultural heritage at a ceremony held on February 7.

Chu Xa Village, an ancient village, located next to Red River in Van Duc commune of Gia Lam district, is the hometown of Saint Chử Đồng Tử, one of the four most important saints of the Vietnamese people, known as the Four Immortals. Chu Xa village festival to honor Saint Chử Đồng Tử was held the first time in 1466.

The village festival includes worshipping ceremonies such as the water procession, rituals, and a traditional dance to pray for happiness and prosperity.

Chu Xa village festival has been named as the national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2020.
