Christians nation-wide go to the polls

05/24/2021

To exercise civic rights, members of Christian sects across the country cast their ballot in the elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly (NA) and all-level People’s Councils for the 2021-2026 term, held on May 23.

As reported by local officials and several leaders of Christian denominations, many Christian followers went to the polls early for casting their vote while strictly observing regulations for the Covid-19 pandemic prevention, such as wearing facemasks, undertaking temperature check and keeping a distance from other voters. Some Christian dignitaries have even joint election teams for guiding and assisting incoming voters, and several Christian churches and congregations have also raised the national flag on this special national event.

Implementing a guideline of the National Election Council allowing some localities to hold the elections earlier, Christian followers of ethnic groups of Ba Na, Ede, etc have proactively gone to the local polling stations early.
