Chieu Minh Long Chau Caodai Church convenes sixth National Congress

The Chieu Minh (Dazzling Bright) Long Chau Caodai Church successfully held its sixth National Congress on December 4 at Long Chau Holy See located in Chau Thanh A district of Hau Giang southern province.  

The congress drew about 200 delegates representing 12 parishes under Chieu Minh Caodai sect in the country.

Guests at the event included Deputy Director of Caodai Affairs Department of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Nguyễn Phong Thịnh, Deputy Head of Southern Affairs Department of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Phạm Thanh Tuyền, and representatives of Hau Giang provincial authorities, other Caodai sects and other religious organizations.

As reported at the sixth assembly, in the fifth term (2015-2020), Chieu Minh Long Chau Caodai Church spent over six billion VND on construction and upgrade of worshipping places, and over two billion VND on charities projects and programs for the disadvantaged and victims of natural calamities, including flood-hit people in Central region this year.

The one-day congress approved the revised charter of the Caodai church and elected the eleven-member executive committee of the Church for the 2020-2025 tenure with Archbishop Ngọc Lễ Thanh reselected as Head of the committee.

On the occasion, the provincial government of Hau Giang presented certificates of recommendation to Chieu Minh Long Chau Caodai Church and two dignitaries of the Caodai sect in honor of their outstanding contributions for social development in the locality.
