The social charity board of Muslim women under the Islam Representative Committee in An Giang province was established in late 2019.
The board currently has over 1,000 members residing in Cham villages in communes of Khanh Hoa (Chau Phu district), Chau Phong (Tan Chau district), Da Phuoc, Nhon Hoi, Khanh Binh and Quoc Thai (An Phu district).
Every month, the board presents 20 relief packets (including 10kg of rice) to disadvantaged families in Muslim communities. Up to now, the board has provided free rice to 220 households in localities.
In addition, the Islamic women board has also supported families suffering from natural disasters, households that have no money to pay for school expenses or books for children at the new school year, orphans, etc and has provided this support to about 300 cases.
Recently, the board presented a scholarship, worth 10 million VND to a student in Khanh Hoa commune who study the final year of the university, Mrs. Siti Hara member of the Muslim Representative Committee in the province cum Head of the Board shared.
On the occasion of the Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20), the social charity board has successfully raised fund for sending food packets, each worth 360,000 VND, to 97 Cham teachers in localities.
In response to a call by the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Cham women group has encouraged local people in Cham villages, mosques and sub-mosque in localities to raise funds for flood-hit residents in the Central region. After one week, the board has collected up to 69 million VND, of which 60 million VND would be sent to the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee for supporting flood-hit people in the central provinces, the rest would go to the Action Month for the Poor in the locality.
