The Danang Municipal People Committee on February 23 announced a certificate recognizing the Cham relic site in Phong Le village, Hoa Tho Dong ward, Cam Le district as a municipal-level historical relic site.
From 2011 to 2018, the Danang Museum of Cham Sculpture collaborated with experts from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities under the Hanoi National University to carry out 3 excavation and research projects to evaluate historical and architectural values of the site.
The researchers also discovered part of a Cham temple tower, sculpture arts and many valuable artifacts related to the culture and religious life of the indigenous Cham people dating from the 9th, 10th and 12th centuries.
Speaking at the ceremony to handover the certificate of the Cham relic site to the Cam Le District People Committee, Deputy Chairman of the Danang Municipal People Committee Lê Quang Nam urged the local authorities to join efforts with the municipal Department of Culture and Sports to better conserve and promote the values of this site.
He asked the local authorities to well manage the relic site and to soon give advice to the city's leadership on the second phase of the project to build the Museum of Cham Sculpture in Phong Le Village, facilitating the restoration and embellishment of the Cham relic site.
