Cham Brahmin dignitaries in Ninh Thuan proactively engage in environment protection

The Council of dignitaries of Cham Brahmin people in Ninh Thuan province has implemented a plan to coordinate with the fatherland front and customs guiding boards in villages of Cham Brahmin communities in the province to promote the implementation of environment protection in the province.  

The plan aims to implement the cooperation agreement on protection environment and climate change adaptation for the 2016-2020 period between the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF)’s Committee, Department of Natural Resources and Environment and religious organizations in the locality.

According to the plan, the pilot model has been implemented in Ninh Phuoc and Phuoc Hau communes and then expanded to 24 customs guiding boards in villages and resident areas of Cham Brahmin communities. The Council of dignitaries of Cham Brahmin people in the province has been integrated contents of environment protection and climate change adaptation to the working plan of the guiding boards in tower sites of Poklong Grai, Po Nuggar Temple and Po Rom Tower.

The program on environment protection of the council has received the active response of local Cham Brahmin people in Ninh Phuoc district’s Phuoc Hau commune and Thuan Nam district’s Phuoc Ninh commune with many practical activities such as not grazing livestock randomly, setting up garbage collection team, building places for discharging plastic bags and glass bottles, mobilizing locals not to destroy forests, etc.

In particular, 100 percent of local households have signed a commitment for planting and taking care of 150 trees in public areas and keep the sanitation at public places and worshipping areas.

Over the three years from 2016 to 2018, the implementation of the environment protection program by the Council of dignitaries of Cham Brahmin people in Ninh Thuan province has created a shift in awareness of locals as well as to bring effective impacts to the environment-friendly lifestyles of people in localities.
