Cha Leng festival of Chut ethnic people in Ha Tinh celebrated

The Chut ethnic group in Huong Vinh commune’s Giang 2 hamlet in Ha Tinh province’s Huong Khe district eagerly celebrated their traditional Cha Leng New Year on November 27 (the 4th day of the 11th lunar month).

Cha Leng festival, which falls on the even day of the 11th lunar month, is annually held after the harvest and aims at paying tribute to heaven and earth for favorable weather and bountiful crop, welcoming the new season.

The festival usually features traditional rituals and festive activities including worshipping rites and folk games, art performances, etc.

A representative from the culture, sports and tourism department presents gifts to Chut ethnic people

During the festival this year, the culture, sports and tourism department, the People’s Committee in Huong Khe district, Giang village Border guard and social organizations in the district presented sets of supports worth 1.5 million VND to each Chut household.

Chut ethnic group in Huong Khe district has 59 households with 209 people, residing in two communes of Huong Lien and Huong Vinh with Rao Tre village in Huong Lien commune has 46 households with 156 people, and Giang 2 village in Huong Vinh commune has 15 households with 56 people. In Rao Tre village, Chut ethnic people celebrate Lap Lo (Filling hole) festival in the seventh lunar month and Cham Ba Boi in the 12th lunar month, and in Giang 2 village, Chut community marks Cha Leng festival in the 11th lunar month.
