Ceremony to recieve recognition of Thay Thim Palace Festival as National Intangible Cultural Heritage

Ceremony to receive the decision of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism to put the Dinh Thay Thim festival on the list of national intangible cultural heritages took place on the morning of July 14. The event was co-held by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People's Committee of La Gi town to hold. This is one of the activities to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the re-establishment of Binh Thuan province (1992 - 2022).
Attending the event, there was Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyễn Minh, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province Bố Thị Xuân Linh, leaders of departments, agencies, La Gi town, and a large number of people in Tan commune.
Thay Thim Palace Festival came into existence in association with the formation of the religious institution Palace and Thay Thim's Tomb. The festival takes place from September 14 to 16 of the lunar calendar every year with many rituals according to traditional practices. This is a sacred and solemn space for locals and tourists from all over the world to worship, visit and relax. In which, the rituals are interwoven with the celebrations, games, folk games, and attractive cultural - sports activities.
Thay Thim Palace Festival is not only a unique traditional festival of the local community but also a common cultural heritage of the people of many neighboring provinces and cities in the southern region. Although it has been influenced by the process of cultural exchange and acculturation, the festival is still preserved and fully maintained in terms of time, space, sequence and practice, the rituals, participants, costumes, offerings, etc.
At the receiving ceremony, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee congratulated the authorities and people of La Gi town for their dedication and efforts in preserving and promoting the value of the Thay Thim Palace Festival. As a result, today, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has registered and included it in the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritage. In order to effectively preserve and promote the festival's value as a place for people's cultural and spiritual activities and to serve tourism development, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee suggested that in the coming time, the People's Committee of La Gi town should focus on developing a thoughtful festival plan to ensure people’s and visitors’ safety. It is expected the organization of the festival with cultural activities, arts, sports, and games can be maintained and kept suitable to local conditions, characteristics, and cultural traditions.
