A ceremony was held in the northern province of Bac Binh on October 31 to celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of late Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) and Vice Chairman of the State Council Lê Quang Đạo (1921-2021) and announce the decision to establish Tu Son City.
In his speech, National Assembly Vương Đình Huệ underscored that the ceremony provided an opportunity for participants to review the life, career, and contributions of comrade Lê Quang Đạo to the revolutionary cause of Vietnam, and especially his hometown in Bac Ninh Province.
Reaching 78 years of age with more than 60 years of revolutionary activities, Lê Quang Đạo set himself as a shining example of a moral and talented leader, and an outstanding communist who made tremendous contributions to Vietnamese revolution, NA Chairman Huệ said, adding that Lê Quang Đạo devoted his entire life to the revolution of the Party and people.
Lê Quang Đạo, real name Nguyễn Đức Nguyện, was born on August 8, 1921, in Dinh Bang Commune, now Dinh Bang Ward of Tu Son City (Bac Ninh Province).
He was elected Chairman of the NA and Vice Chairman of the State Council at the 8th-tenure parliament (1987 - 1992) - the first parliamentary tenure of the Doi moi (Renewal) period. He was appointed as Secretary of the Party delegation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in 1993 and President of the Presidium of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee in 1994.

In order to create an impulse for the development of both Tu Son and Bac Ninh so that this province can become a centrally run city in the near future, the NA Standing Committee issued Resolution No. 387/NQ-UBTVQH15 on the establishment of Tu Son City in Bac Ninh Province on September 22, 2021.
At the ceremony, after Secretary General of the NA and Chairman of the NA Office Chairman Bùi Văn Cường announced the content of the Resolution of the NA Standing Committee on the establishment of Tu Son City, NA Chairman Vương Đình Huệ presented the resolution, which took effect on November 1, to local officials.
Also on October 31, NA Chairman Vương Đình Huệ offered incense to commemorate late NA leader Lê Quang Đạo in Dinh Bang Ward, Tu Son City, Bac Ninh Province.
