The Central Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Committee for Nuns Affairs reviewed its activities in 2014 and approved a working program for 2015 at a meeting held on Dec. 15 in Ho Chi Minh city.
Buddhist dignitaries attending the meeting were Most Venerable Thích Đức Nghiệp, Deputy Patriarch of the VBS Discernment Council, Nun Thích Nữ Tịnh Nguyện, Deputy Head of the Central Committee for Nuns Affairs and nuns from 39 its provincial committees.
Local guests at the meeting included Mr. Nguyễn Ngọc Phong, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh city Vietnam Fatherland Front, Mr. Nguyễn Thanh Xuân from the Government Committee for Religious Affairs and representatives from local authorities.
At the meeting, Nun Thích Nữ Huệ Từ, Secretary of the Central Committee for Nuns Affairs briefed about Buddhist activities of nuns in 2014. According to the report, the Committee for Nuns Affairs has been set up in 39 out of 60 provinces throughout the country.
Nun Thích nữ Như Như, Deputy Head of the Central Division of Nuns also presented working plans for 2015 of the Central Committee for Nuns.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyễn Ngọc Phong highly valued efforts of the Central Committee for Nuns Affairs in Buddhist activities 2014 and highlighted roles of nuns in Buddhist affairs, contributing to the Church’s achievements. He also encouraged nuns to take care of the poor in remote areas.
