Catholic parishes and congregations in Can Tho City’s Vinh Thanh district have proactively joint the movement promoting people’s participation to esure social security and public order launched by the public security force.
So far, all 47 parishes and congregations in the district have achieved all targets of a model on social order and public security developed by the police force. Especially many localities where security situation had been tagged as ‘complicated’ earlier have now become peacefully normal.
In addition, other models for self-management, self-protection, civilized residential areas have also been developed by local authorities and received active response from Catholics in the district, which practically contributed to local security and order.
Priest head of Kim Hoa Parish in Thanh An commune Joseph Vũ Đức Hước informed that the parish has signed a commitment of coordination with local police to prevent social evils and violation of state laws in residential areas and then, during religious meetings organized by the parish, the parishioners have also been communicated and educated to avoid harmful behaviors and habits, as well as violations of state laws and policies.
According to Priest Head of Trinh Vuong Parish in Thanh Thang commune Joseph Nguyễn Văn Chính, he himself has closely worked with local police and authorities for prevent social evils and unlawful activities, as well as improve both secular and religious ways of life in the Catholic communities.
