06/11/2018

A developing model for the protection of marine environment and national resources in a Catholic-concentrated residential area in Quang Binh province’s Ba Don district was formally launched at a signing ceremony held on Jun 5.

The ceremony was organized by the local committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) in the province on occasion of the Vietnam Islands and Sea Week and World Environment Day 2018.

Tan My neighborhood in Ba Don district is home to over 2,000 residents with 98% of them are Catholic followers living mainly on fishing and aquatic business. The implementation of the model is expected to raise the awareness and responsibility of local people in environmental protection. This is considered as a pilot model before replicating it to the whole province in the coming time.

As part of the signing program, over 400 households in Tan My neighborhood committed to take practical actions for cleaning seaside and village roads, discharging garbage at a right place, etc.
