Catholics in Luong Khe community make active contributions to local development

In active response to a movement for local development, people in the Catholic community of Luong Khe in Nghe An province have made an important contribution to the socio-economic development in the locality.   

Luong Khe Catholic commune under Trung Hoa parish has about 60 households with over 300 people.

With a sense of responsibility and encouragement from the local authorities and Catholics in Trung Hoa parish for the local development, 19 families in Luong Khe Catholic commune have voluntarily donated almost 2,000 square of farm land worth nearly 600 million VND. Typical families in this land contribution include the families of Mr. Trần Kim Vân, Mr. Trịnh Khắc Tuyền and Mr. Dương Văn Lương, who offered 222m2, 212m2 and 208m2 respectively.

Mrs. Hoàng Thị Chính in Hoa Son village shared “We build roads for our locals to travel first and foremost, so when local authorities of the commune and the village called for support, my family has voluntarily donated 137 m2 of land with many kinds of trees on it bearing fruits to be harvested”.

Given land resources contributed by the people, the local authorities have built the village’ cultural center, enlarged a road of two kilometers long through the village and connecting to the elementary school…

Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Hoa commune Nguyễn Xuân Thi also informed that the Catholic community of Luong Khe has proactively contributed to not only improve the material and spiritual life of the local people, but also play a practically important role in speeding up the movement for renovating the countryside.
