Bac Tu Liem district located in the west of Hanoi city has more than 3,000 parishioners with Co Nhue church, Joseph Major Seminary and eight sub-parishes.

Over the years, Catholic compatriots in Bac Tu Liem district have actively participated patriotic movements and programs launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee at all levels in association with the “outstanding parish” movement and engaged in environment protection, climate change adaption and social charities, contributing to socio-economic development and ensuring public order in the district.
Implementing the cooperation program on environmental protection and climate change adaption between the Vietnam Fatherland Front Board in Bac Tu Liem district, the Natural Resources and Environment Office and the district Catholic Solidarity Board, the Catholic solidarity board has launched practical activities suiting practical conditions of each parish and sub-parish. The Board also suggested that the Co Nhue parish and sub-parishes to build a key model on environmental protection and climate change adaption, including guiding parishioners to adopt civilized lifestyles in funerals.
Over the past years, 100% Catholic parish and sub-parishes in the district have refrained from holding catering during funerals and accepted cremation (23 cases) with no smoking and weddings with celebrating parties lasting for many days.
In particular, during the Covid-19 pandemic, five weddings in parishes of Dinh Quan, Thuy Phuong and Christian sub-parish have been organized only with wedding announcements.
In addition, local Catholics have contributed over 100 million VND and thousand of working days to repair roads, 83 million VND to install cameras,50 million VND to install sports equipment and build a neighborhood playground, contributing to creating a green - clean - beautiful environment in the locality.
