Catholic solidarity committee in Quang Binh reviews annual performance

The committee for solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics (CSCV) in Quang Binh province reviewed its performance 2019 and set out working plans 2020 at a meeting held on February 20.  

The event saw the presence of Vice Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) Hoàng Văn Minh, Priest Peter Nguyễn Bình Yên, Head of the provincial CSCV, and members of the Catholic solidarity committee.

As reported at the meeting, in 2019, Quang Binh province’s patriotic emulation movements in Catholic community have brought practical results contributing to improve local Catholics’ life. The provincial VFF in collaboration with the provincial CSCV organized nine meetings on environment protection and climate change adaption for 840 participants including parishioners; established a new pilot model for environment protection in Dong Giang village, Dong Hoa commune, the province’s Tuyen Hoa district, as well as maintained other 16 models established in residential areas.

In addition, the provincial CSCV also engaged in many social and charitable projects for presenting 30 red Brahman cows worth 450 million VND to 30 poor families in Kim Hoa commune (Tuyen Hoa district); building two solidarity houses to two disadvantaged families with the  total value of 80 million VND; presenting 500 million VND for building the management house of Tan Thuy kindergarten and 15 bicycles to 15 poor pupils in Kim Hoa commune, etc.

Given these practical results, in 2019, the provincial CSCV received a certificate of merit of the central committee for solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics.
